Decision Trees to Forecast Risks of Strawberry Powdery Mildew Caused by Podosphaera aphanis

چکیده
Powdery mildew (Podosphaera aphanis) is a major disease in day-neutral strawberry. Up to 30% yield losses have been observed Eastern Canada. Currently, management of powdery mostly based on fungicide applications without consideration risk. The objective this study use P. aphanis inoculum, host ontogenic resistance, and weather predictors forecast the risk strawberry using CART models (classification trees). data used build trees were collected 2006, 2007, 2008 at one experimental farm six commercial farms located two main strawberry-production areas, while external validation same 2015, 2016, 2018. Data proportion leaf area diseased (PLAD) grouped into four severity classes (1: PLAD = 0; 2: > 0 <5%; 3: >5% <15%; 4: 15%) for total 681 136 cases training validation, respectively. From initial 92 variables, 21 selected following clustering. tree with best balance between number highest accuracy was built with: airborne inoculum concentration susceptible leaves day sampling, mean relative humidity, daily hours temperature 18 30 °C, saturation vapor pressure 10 25 mmHg during previous 6 days. For training, internal datasets, sensitivity, specificity, ranged from 0.70 0.90, 0.87 0.98, 0.82 0.97, classification rules estimate can be easily implemented decision support systems treat only when necessary thus avoid preventable unnecessary treatments.

Initiation, development, and survival of cleistothecia of Podosphaera aphanis and their role in the epidemiology of strawberry powdery mildew.
A collection of four clonal isolates of Podosphaera aphanis was heterothallic and was composed of two mutually exclusive mating types. Cleistothecial initials approximately 20 to 30 microm in diameter were observed within 7 to 14 days after pairing of compatible isolates and developed into morphologically mature ascocarps within 4 weeks after initiation on both potted plants maintained in isola...
متن کاملLabor-saving Preservation of Powdery Mildew of Strawberry by Sterilized Seedling Culture
Various preservation methods at low temperature have been reported for several powdery mildew fungi, but the conidia of Podosphaera aphanis causing powdery mildew of strawberry could not be preserved either at low temperature or by freeze-drying and liquid-drying of conidial suspensions or diseased leaf discs. Here, we developed a new technique for a labor-saving preservation of the conidia of ...

The response of apple cultivars to powdery mildew attack – Podosphaera leucotricha (Ell. et Everh.) Salm. – on leaves and shoots, for seven years (1990-1996), emphasised a large variability for this character existing within 75 apple varieties tested in an experimental field at the Fruit Research Station in Cluj-Napoca, Central Transylvania, Romania. The experimental results confirmed that the ...
متن کاملFactors Affecting Airborne Concentrations of Podosphaera xanthii Conidia and Severity of Gerbera Powdery Mildew
To determine the factors affecting airborne conidial concentrations of Podosphaera xanthii Braun and Shishkoff and powdery mildew severity in greenhouse-grown potted gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii H. Bolus), airborne concentrations of conidia were monitored in a glass and polyethylene greenhouse. Temperature, relative humidity, and leaf wetness were recorded onsite, and the percentage of foliage wi...

In this research, for taxonomic studies and identification of the fungi associated with the powdery mildew(Oidium euonymi- japonici) of Buxus trees (Euonymus japonica), the infected leaves were collected during autumn and winter 2012-2013 in Gorgan (Golestan province -Iran). The samples after washing and surface sterilizing, were cultured on PDA medium(with boxwood extract). Then based on availab...
